Man: I left an expensive laptop in my car and forgot to lock it, and now it has been stolen.

Some other guy: It was your fault. You should have locked it, dumbass.

Society: LMAO. He is right! You should have been more careful, idiot!

Female: I was walking home at 4am wearing a short skirt and I got raped.

Someone: It was your fault. You shouldn’t have dressed like a whore. You shouldn’t have been walking home alone at night. What were you doing out so late?

Society: Victim blaming! It’s not her fault! Don’t teach women not to get raped! Teach men not to rape!

until you can reject your abusive parent’s point of view completely, they will always make your point of view matter less, your memories and meaning of events will always be doubted, your perception will always be put on questioning and attacks, while their lies stand unquestioned, forcing you to bow down and pretend that your pain shouldn’t matter to anyone, not even you.

were-all-queer-here:

K but why do women have to take on the burden and suffer the consequences of men’s lack of self control? Why are we taught as young as age 12 that we can’t dress a certain way because some man might get horny? Why are we given a list of rules to protect ourselves from men, when they’re being the predators? Why do we have completely change our lives and routines to cater to men’s susceptibility to a woman’s shoulder or leg? Why?
